Current reading: Death in Holy Orders, P. D. James, Knopf.
Current listening: Whatever I happen to be feeding to iTunes at the time. It’s ranged from XTC to Garth Brooks to Front242 to the Anonymous 4 (medieval chant). Go figure.
Under pressure from two different sources within a day of each other, I’ve updated my web page. (OK, so I’ve been a lazy bum about it, with no updates in 5 months. What’s your point?)
Well, it’s official. I start work at Apple Computer, Inc. on 11 June 2001. My first non-academic corporate-style job at a company I’ve always dreamed of working for. It’s a bit of a surprise, but a pleasant one.
The bonus is that they’re moving me out there - lock, stock, and barrel. Including my car. And there’s housing and all sorts of other stuff thrown in there until I can find a place to live.
I’m excited, more than a little nervous, and happy all at the same time. I’m looking forward to the change in work and to the change in scenery. Not having to dig my car out of two feet of snow in the winter is a Good Thing. San Francisco sounds like it’s a lot of fun, and the culture at Apple seems pretty relaxing and interesting.
Now the trick is to just relax and tie everything up here in a neat little bundle. Oh, and get that MS thing polished off. Yeah, that’s it.
